Greta M. Rainsford, M.D. WELCOMES you

I love watching clouds and learned to sail in order to leave forever and sail around the world at my leisure.

I love sail boats; a very natural way to travel; dependent only on nature, the wind and the waves, AND it allows time to think.

The reality is that, even though traveling, I would soon become bored. At the present I’m back to reality and fully appreciate my need to do what I do. I am a pediatrician but interested in teenagers as well (Ephebiatrics).

Pediatrics became my life goal at an early age. As an only child, I was always around other peoples babies and children. A love of mysteries and puzzles produced a marriage of them all. Pediatrics in it’s early stages is very much a puzzle because that infant and young child cannot use language, so we have to use other techniques to discover the problem. An illness or a problem is a mystery to be solved. Working with parents, while sometimes stressful, has been rewarding. There is no question that watching babies become children, children become adolescents, and adolescents become adults has been magical. The greatest reward is having those grown babies, now parents, come to me as their children’s pediatrician as I was theirs.

While medicine has certainly changed, for the better regarding certain diseases, there are still many challenges to keeping people well and/or assisting people get well if ill.
